Ravida Din has an uncompromising commitment to social justice and feminism. It is integral to her work and a strong guiding principle towards bringing an insightful and engaging analysis to social documentary film.
In her position as Executive Producer (Quebec and Atlantic Production Centers), her mandate is to envision and manage a varied program of theatrical and television documentaries, community based media, interactive digital projects and alternative drama.
Her recent credits include The Socalled Movie, directed by Garry Beitel, a year in the life of the multi-talented Josh Dolgin whose mix of hip-hop, funk, salsa rhythms and klezmer is turning the heads of musicians and audiences around the world. Jelena's Song, directed by Pablo Alvarez-Mesa, a poignant and lyrical journey through memory and family history; Family Motel, directed by Helene Klodawsky, an alternative drama with an innovative narrative approach to exploring the complex interplay between poverty, housing and immigration.
Current documentaries that Din is producing include: Payback: Debt and the Shadow Side of Wealth, based on the book by Margaret Atwood and directed by Jennifer Baichwal, Pink Inc: Breast Cancer and the Politics of Philanthropy, directed by Léa Pool, traces the evolution of the breast cancer movement from meaningful civic participation to purchasing products and Ten Thousand Roses: The Making of a Feminist Revolution, directed by Karen Cho, based on the book by Judy Rebick, an exhilarating and moving chronicle of Canadian women who organized, protested and fought for changes as part of a revolution that forever changed the status of women worldwide.
