Francois Aubry's first films were drawn directly on film: CADENCE (1978) and LES EXPERIENCES SONORES DE BUSTER KEATON (1981). His next film CONCERTO GROSSO MODO (1985) took top prize in the NFB French Animation Studio competition "Cineaste recherche(e)". While at the Board he continued his research on sound and image in NOCTURNES (1988). His expertise in visual effects can be appreciated in Jacques Giraldeau's L'HOMMME DE PAPIER, l987), Denys Arcand's blockbuster JESUS OF MONTREAL (1989), Martin Barry's JUKE-BAR (1989) and Patricia Rozema's MONTREAL VU PAR... (1991).
