Garingan Cal
Featured in The Los Angeles Times as a promising young talent, writer/director Cal Garingan is a winner of the NFB's Reel Diversity Competition. Why Thee Wed? His first documentary, this NFB film looks at how eight couples helped bring about legislation legalizing same-sex marriage in British Columbia.
His award-winning short Out on a Holiday has been seen at festivals in Canada, the U.K., Italy, Australia and the U.S. He directed several other short films and produced the educational film Teen Sex: Choosing Control.
In addition to holding a Master's in Film and Television Production from Chapman University, California, Cal received a full scholarship to the Vancouver Film School, where he completed the Writing Program. He has numerous feature screenplays in development.
