Lamont Eve

Portrait Lamont Eve
Cinematographer and documentarist Ève Lamont consistently strives to bring to the screen alternative solutions to social and environmental problems. She has been making films for over fifteen years, mostly independent documentaries inspired by her convictions. Her works focus on people whose lives and opinions are rarely taken into account, people who remain in the shadows of our market-driven societies. Lamont succeeds in capturing their reality in direct cinema fashion, creating thought-provoking films that encourage debate–true vehicles for social intervention. Her two feature-length documentaries, Squat! (2002) and Méchante job (2001), are among her most noteworthy Squat! tells the story of the take-over of an abandoned building by young activists and homeless people in Montreal. In 2003, the film won the Best Direction Award in the feature-length Canadian documentary category and the Humanitarian Award at the prestigious Hot Docs festival in Toronto.
