Papa Tony
Tony Papa has been producing award-winning independent films and videos since 1990. True Prince: Vladimir Malakhov, Papa's profile of the world's greatest male ballet dancer won a 1997 Hot Doc's award for Best Arts Documentary. His CBC/Bravo television special Traveler, won Best Cinematography at the 1995 Toronto Worldwide Short Film Festival and was invited to the 2nd Annual Changehun Film Festival in China.
In 1995, Papa joined forces with Leigh Badgley to produce the Vision TV documentary Sacred Waters of Cambodia. They went on to produce Voices of Ayachucho, Peru, a TV documentary in 1998. That same year, Papa won a finalist certificate at the World Fest Houston Film Festival for his first short drama, Does that Make Me a Bad Person.
He directed his first film for the NFB in 1999: Opre Roma: Gypsies in Canada.
