McKay Jeff
Born in Saskatoon in 1961, Jeff moved with his family to Winnipeg as a child. He developed an interest in theatre at the tender age of nine which he later pursued as assistant to the technical director at the Gryphon Theatre in Barrie and Prairie Theatre Exchange in Winnipeg.
He toured with several bands as a drummer throughout Western Canada in the early '80's. In 1985, he made his first short 16mm film A GAME OF DEATH. It won an honourable mention at the American Film Festival in New York and continues to have a healthy run on the film festival circuit.
Since then Jeff worked steadily as a projectionist at a local cinematheque and as an assistant film editor. He edited John Paskievich's Genie-nominated film THE ACTOR and SEDNA: THE MAKING OF A MYTH.
Jeff is presently editing THE INDIANS OF CZECHOSLOVAKIA with Paskievich and is developing another documentary project, besides raising two young boys with his wife in their very old house in Winnipeg.
