Krepakevich Jerry

Portrait Krepakevich Jerry

Jerry Krepakevich is a director, writer, editor and producer whose filmography now lists more that 90 films, including animation, documentary, drama and Ukrainian versions of a number of productions. Originally from Saskathchewan, he joined the National Film Board in 1967, after a career encompassing theatre, farming, carpentry, photography and radio. Currently, he is regional producer at the NFB's North West Centre in Edmonton.

Krepakevich's films, and in particular, recent North West Centre productions, have won numerous awards: Elk Island; Long Lance; Shooting Stars (a Stein/MacLean Production in co-production with the NFB produced with Allan Stein); Foster Child; and The Spirit Within, which has collected six awards since its 1990 release.

Recent productions include Coppermine and Prairie Grasslands: Wind Country (a co-production with Karvonen Films), winner of six AMPIA 1992 awards, and Totem: the Return of the G'psgolox Pole (2003).
