Christensen David
David Christensen is the Executive Producer of the NFB's North West Centre. The North West Centre is responsible for documentary, animation and interactive productions in Manitoba, Saskatchewan, Alberta, the Northwest Territories and Nunavut. Currently, the Centre has more than 25 projects in development and production throughout this region. Recent highlights from the North West Centre include the NFB co-produced feature documentary Wiebo's War, the animated short film Wild Life, as well as an emerging filmmaker program for Nunavut filmmakers.
Prior to joining the Board, David worked as an independent writer, producer and director. His directing credits include the dramatic feature Six Figures, which earned a Genie nomination for Best Adapted Screenplay. David's independent documentary work includes Writing Icons, The Breath of God, a feature documentary on the Bhopal gas disaster entitled The Heart Becomes Quiet, and the NFB-produced War Hospital, a feature documentary about the war in southern Sudan.
David's recent documentary film was The Mirror, about a small town in the northern Italian Alps that decides to build a giant mirror. The film premiered at the Locarno Film Festival and was invited to Hot Docs, IDFA, and MoMA, among other festivals. In 2010, he also produced a multi-part television series on police recruitment entitled A Few Good Men and Women.
