Bissonnette Sophie

Portrait Bissonnette Sophie

Sophie Bissonnette has been making documentaries on social solidarity and women's issues for thirty years. Her first film, A Wives' Tale (1980), won an award from the Association québécoise des critiques de cinéma. Next came Quel numéro/What Number (1985), L'amour... à quel prix? (1989) and A Vision in the Darkness (1990), which garnered three awards. She then went on to direct The Glass Ceiling (1992), Près de nous (1997), A Score for Women's Voices (2001) and Madeleine Parent, tisserande de solidarités (2002).

Her latest film, Staying Real: Teens Confront Sexual Stereotypes, is a follow-up to Sexy Inc.: Our Children Under Influence, which won the UNICEF Prize at the Japan Prize International Contest For Educational Media.
