Bouchard Patrick
Born in the Saguenay in 1974, Patrick Bouchard studied cinema and the visual arts at Université du Québec à Chicoutimi. He is also a musician and sculptor. While at university he made videos and two animation films, the second of which, Jean Leviériste (1996), attracted the attention of the Saguenay producer Alain Corneau, who directed him towards the NFB. There, Bouchard made The Brainwashers (2002), a disturbing puppet animation unusual in Canadian cinema. This first professional film won him the Jutra award for best ainmation.
Bouchard then shot Dehors novembre (2005), an adaptation of a song by Les Colocs that won him a second Jutra. The prolific streak continued with Subservience (2007), his second collaboration with the writer of The Brainswashers, Martin Rodolphe Villeneuve, who not only creted the original idea and wrote the screeplay, but was also artistic director.
