Clarke Annette

Annette Clarke has worked in documentary film in both production and marketing for nearly 20 years. With a background in sociology and women's studies, Annette has always been drawn to films exploring complex social issues. When Women Kill looks at women who've killed abusive partners; Jailhouse Romance focuses on women who marry men convicted of violent crimes; and Bloodlines exposes the commercialization of DNA in Newfoundland and Iceland.

But her work isn't all social-issue driven. The Gemini-nominated White Thunder tells the story of a legendary 1920s Hollywood feature shot in Newfoundland, while the quirky Raising Rover goes into the multi-million-dollar world of pampered dogs.

After a number of years at the NFB in Montreal, Annette returned to her native Newfoundland and launched Ruby Line Productions. In 2003, she accepted the position of producer at the NFB's Atlantic Centre and now divides her time between Halifax and St. John's.

At the Atlantic Centre Annette has produced many films for the NFB: Brother 2 Brother (2004), Cottonland (2006), Hannah's Story (2007), Griefwalker (2008), Good Morning Kandahar (2008), Four Feet Up (2009) and many more.
