Haras Jill
In 1983, Jill Haras graduated with a BFA in Film and Animation from the Emily Carr Institute of Art and Design in Vancouver. She spent several years operating the animation camera stand for the National Film Board in Vancouver, as well as working freelance on independent productions as a camera assistant, picture and sound editor and storyboard illustrator.
Jill began designing, directing and writing for film in 1987. Her work includes the NFB's Growing Up Series, Siren Film's Bicycle Ladies, CBC's Sesame Street and Knowledge Network's Kidzone. The script for Jill's 2002 NFB film, Joe, was written in 1992. While waiting for production to begin in 1998, Jill kept busy camera operating, art directing and painting 50 wooden chairs.
