Turgeon Jacques
Executive producer, Acadia Studio, Ontario and West Studio and Quebec Studio - Regions
Jacques Turgeon studied law, art history and cinema at Université Laval. He has worked in film, television and new media since 1978.
He has been involved in various capacities in both documentary and fiction film as well as in television programs and series. Many of the projects in which he has been involved - including A Sunday at 105, one of the most-watched films on nfb.ca - have received critical acclaim. He produced or co-produced such notable works as Duhamel, The Man who Talks with Wolves, Nomad's Land, Raoul Léger: the Elusive Truth, A Hospital Crucified, Léonard Forest: Film Maker and Poet, Durelle, Men for Sale, For the Cause and Racing Thoughts. He helped launch Tremplin and AnimAcadie, two highly successful initiatives aimed at young French-speaking filmmakers, as well as the Wapikoni Mobile, a travelling video and recording studio designed to reach young Aboriginals. He also headed the 3-D stereoscopic project Facing Champlain, an innovative mix of documentary, fiction and animation that, since 2008, has screened at the Musée de la civilisation de Québec.
With his extensive experience in media production and project management, in 1998 Turgeon was appointed executive producer of Quebec regional production for the NFB's French Program before taking charge of the Acadia Studio in 2000. He has been Executive Producer of the Acadia Studio and the Ontario and West Studio since 2007.
