The National Film Board of Canada:
Canada’s public film producer and distributor
Canada's public producer and distributor, the National Film Board of Canada creates interactive works, social-issue documentaries, auteur animation and alternative dramas that provide the world with a unique Canadian perspective. The NFB is breaking new ground in form and content through interactive and mobile media, community filmmaking projects, programs for emerging filmmakers, stereoscopic film and more. It works in collaboration with creative filmmakers, digital media creators and co-producers in every region of Canada, with Aboriginal and culturally diverse communities, as well as partners around the world. Since the NFB's founding in 1939, it has created over 13,000 productions and won over 5,000 awards, including 4 Webbys, 12 Oscars and more than 90 Genies. Its Screening Room features over 2,100 productions online, including high-definition and 3D films. The NFB also puts the experience of cinema into the hands of Canadians everywhere through its acclaimed mobile apps for the iPhone, iPad and Android platforms, as well as a pre-loaded app in the new BlackBerry PlayBook.
On this site you'll find the complete collection of NFB films, our online stores and information on our new animation and documentaries. Film professionals will find out how to make a film with the NFB and discover NFB Images, a rich collection of stock footage and new high-definition footage. For teachers, the Education section offers a stimulating range of topics for discussion in class. Journalists can also obtain press releases on our events throughout the country.

Reaching out to Canadian communities
In the heart of Canada’s two largest cities, the NFB’s downtown centres are open to the public. Montreal’s CineRobotheque and Toronto’s Mediatheque are at the cutting edge of technology and provide a complete cinematic experience: workshops, individual viewing stations, screenings and special events, as well as opportunities for young people to develop their media skills.
